1. What is a fiscal sponsorship?

Similar to crowdfunding, fiscal sponsorships allow you to contribute funds to support our operating costs. The biggest difference is in how your money is collected and distributed.

We are sponsored by Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service that’s been around since 2002. All funds are donated to their non-profit and then distributed to us.

This means that anything you give will be tax-deductible, in accordance with law. We also provided them our plan on how we’ll use the funds and they will disperse them as needed. This provides peace of mind that your money will only be used to support our operating costs.

We’re using this model for a few reasons. One is to keep production budgets down. The smaller our ask, the fewer brands we may have to partner with per season, which leads to stronger storytelling.

The second, and more prudent, is that some expenses don’t stop between shows. Our development staff, lawyer, accountant, and the dreaded taxes persist even once one season ends and the next is beginning. Although we plan to develop year round, this ensures we don’t hit unexpected gaps.

If you’re considering donating and have any questions, please reach out! We believe in full transparency, and, in fact, it’s required for the fiscal sponsorship since we must submit regular audits.

2. Will you use AI to make your shows?

The genesis of Lowkey Moxie began in 2018. As the popularity of web series waned, Sandrene began brainstorming ways to showcase the talents of her friends in the indie film communities of Nashville and Atlanta in a serialized format. After the pandemic struck in 2020, it became clear that Hollywood would likely not return as it was before, leaving the industry primed for an indie revolution like that of the late 90s and early 2000s.

Providing a platform for those who did not have one has always been the goal. For this reason, we will never use technology to write, act, edit, or perform any function that we would otherwise hire a human for. One of the great things about independent art is finding ways to make things that look amazing with limited resources. And while we won’t shy away from using tools to help us achieve this, they will always be used to support our team, not replace them.

We want to create more industry jobs with competitive rates and provide a platform for people to showcase their talents in all areas of production. Our goal for the first year is to produce three shows, which will provide jobs for, at a minimum, 14 writers, 6 directors, 9 producers, and 100 below-the-line crew. Each year we plan to scale up production while adding an additional show.
